Installing a Charging Station
When purchasing a charging station, you have the option to have it installed by a certified Voltero installer. Alternatively, you can purchase the charging station and arrange for the installation yourself.
A charging station is an electrical installation that involves working with high voltage and current. Therefore, we strongly advise against attempting an installation if you do not have knowledge of the installation process. Only install the charging solution if you know what you are doing! In order to install the charging station, cables will need to be run and adjustments will need to be made in the electrical panel.
Installing in your own home
Before starting the installation, it is wise to consider a few key factors. First, it is useful to know how many phases your vehicle can charge on. An electric vehicle can charge on 1-phase or 3-phase.
Next, it is important to know whether your electrical panel has a 1-phase or 3-phase connection. This is related to the maximum charging power for your vehicle and will determine the next steps of the installation.
After that, it is time to decide where you want to place the charging station. If you own the property, it is allowed anywhere on your property. Keep the distance between the electrical panel and your charging station as short as possible.
Finally, it is useful to consider whether you need smart features on your charging station. We have different charging stations with different features.
Installing at your business
As with a residential installation, it is important to consider a few key factors. We recommend checking whether your electrical panel has a 1-phase or 3-phase connection. Businesses often have 3-phase panels.
If you have a 1-phase connection, we recommend upgrading your electrical panel to handle a stronger charging station, which can charge your vehicle faster.
finally, choose a location for the charging station and keep the distance between the charging station and your electrical panel as short as possible to save money and hassle.
